Helsinki tops European Equality Index

Finland’s capital has been named the best city for equality in Europe.

10 different factors including gender pay gap, immigrant acceptance and income inequality were assessed and Helsinki scored highest for male-to-female labour force participation, women in politics, and political rights and civil liberties.

The city also scored well for overall quality of life, ranking the eighth-best European city in the index.

Six distinct equality factors were also used to determine its country index ranking and Finland was ranked fifth out of 36 European countries.
